15
year old Victor Pfluger of Wickenberg gave notice that he wants to be the next
ASA racer to move up to stock car racing’s highest level when he turns 18.
Victor won races in two of the ASA Divisions last year at the 6th Annual NAPA Auto Parts and SRP Coronado Generating Station St. Johns Grand Prix Labor Day Weekend.
A former karting champion and 2004 sports racer champion at ASA’s ProAutoSports road racing division, Victor first won the ASA Speed Truck Challenge feature race at St. Johns, outdueling much older and experienced racers Sunday. He drove a perfect race and showed the 24 other ASA Speed Truck racers that he is going to be someone to reckon with.
Victor also won the M Sports Racer race in a rented car, driving away from Anthem’s Taylor Mahoney and Phoenix based Rick Fasano who finished 2nd and 3rd in last year’s race.
Victor set lap records for both the ASA Speed Trucks and the MSR Sports Racer divisions.
The 7th annual St. Johns Grand Prix on Labor Day Weekend September 1-4, 2006 is sanctioned by ASA Racing’s Professional AutoSports in Chandler, Arizona and will feature over 200 Stock Cars, Sports Cars, Sports Racers and Open wheel cars on the 2 mile road race circuit. The ASA Speed Truck Series will again be the feature race Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. It will be televised on the Outdoor Life Network this year.
Since last year, Victor has continued to drive well in the ASA-Speed Truck Series that spawned Casey Mears, Kyle Bush, Kurt Bush and Jimmie Johnson to the top level of stock car racing. Victor is currently 10th in points and has finished in the top 5 several races this year.
Most of last year’s winners will be on the grid again this year. Last year’s winners were:
