NAPA Auto Parts, Salt River Project Coronado Generating Station and Bud Light from Golden Eagle Distributors are Title Sponsors
Salt River Project
has a major generating station in St. Johns. This plant, Coronado Generating
Station, employs more than 200 Apache County residents and is an active
participant in St. Johns and Arizona community organizations and events. Larry
Pond, Managing Director of the St. Johns Grand Prix stated, “Bill Beck, plant
manager of the Coronado Generating Station has supported the Grand Prix races
each year.
Larry said “With
the help from Salt River Project, we have been able to add a significant
economic impact to the St. Johns area each year.”
The St Johns Grand Prix brings in 200 race teams for a total of 1000 people that spend 4 days and nights at the event. With spectators totaling 10,000 over the 3 race days, the community of 3,200 grows to 3-4 times that.
Community
activists like Salt River Project’s Coronado Generating Station management and
employees are very important to The St. Johns Grand Prix.
The same is true of NAPA Auto Parts and their Arizona Dealers. In past years, the St. Johns NAPA store with manager John Warren have supported the Grand Prix with sponsorship and a booth to help racers order parts for delivery to the track. The past two years, with the help of the NAPA dealers in Springerville, Show Low, Snowflake, Winslow, Flagstaff, Presccott and Prescott Valley, John has brought in the NAPA Phoenix Distribution Center and all of the other dealers in the state as a title sponsor.
Larry stated, “We
have the premier auto parts company in the country supporting this event. With
the experience and leadership of the key dealers and Bob Curtis, President of
the Phoenix Distribution Center, we can only get bigger and better!” He
continues, “Now all we need is Michael Waltrip to show up and hawk the true
blue NAPA auto parts at their booth! Maybe race too.”
Golden Eagle Distributors has been a 6 year sponsor. They provide the collectible die cast Dale Jr cars that are mated with a special wood base made by MK Woodworking in St. Johns to provide very special trophies.
Larry Pond said
“Golden Eagle Distributors have supported the Grand Prix from the beginning.
With their help and guidance, we have grown each year. “
It takes long term sponsors to make an event continue to grow each year. These 3 sponsors are key to The St. Johns Grand Prix.
